Our Design Process
This is a guideline of how our design process works. Since we offer different design packages, some steps may vary slightly from this guide based on the scope of work. We follow this process to ensure high-quality service and 100% satisfaction to all our clients.
STEP 1: DESIGN CONSULTATION
We start every project with a design consultation for both our Local and Virtual services. During the consultation, we assess your space and discuss your space in detail so we can understand the scope of your project, what your needs are, and your personal style aesthetic.
STEP 2: SELECT A SERVICE + HIRE
Based on our initial design consultation, you may want to continue our working relationship by retaining us for your project. All services require approval of our signed contract and receipt of the design fee to initiate work.
STEP 3: CONCEPTUAL PHASE
Upon approval of the contract and receipt of the design fee, we will begin creating design concepts for your home based on your style aesthetic, needs, desired feeling for the space, overall design vision, and our interpretation of your personality. We will present two design concepts for you to choose from and discuss.
STEP 3: DESIGN PHASE
After you have selected a concept and the overall design direction has been established, we head to the studio to source furniture, art, accessories, fabrics, and materials for your project. We will present our options to you during a design meeting. During this meeting, we will decide on which items are a HECK YES and which items need to be reselected. This phase will take a few weeks as there will be back and forth communication on the design until we get it just right!
STEP 4: IMPLEMENTATION PHASE
Once you have approved the final design, it is time to start implementing the design. This phase includes all the administrative work such as requesting quotes, ordering merchandise, tracking orders, coordinating with the trades, scheduling deliveries/installations, and confirming final details.
STEP 5: EXECUTION PHASE
After orders have been placed and merchandise has been received, it is time to execute the final design. During this phase, you will get to see your project come to life as we carry out your project until completion. This phase includes overseeing in-home deliveries, furniture moving services, window treatment installations, and all other installation services necessary to complete your project.
STEP 6: FINAL WALK-THROUGH
At this point, your home is complete and the design has been executed according to plan. We will schedule a final walk-through to review your space and ensure that you are fully satisfied with the end result. During this time, we will review the punch list to make sure everything has been checked off and pinpoint any touch-ups or deficiencies that need to be resolved.
STEP 7: RESOLVING ANY DEFICIENCIES
We will bring in our team to resolve any outstanding deficiencies and make touch-ups if necessary. This may differ as you have selected a contractor for your project.
STEP 8: THE BIG REVEAL & PHOTOGRAPHY
Your home is complete and you get to enjoy your space! We will schedule a day for final photography. During this time, we may bring in additional accessories and fresh flowers to stage your home so it’s “magazine ready”.
MINI MAKEOVER **MOST POPULAR**
Includes a 3 hour action meeting with BDID Redesigner (additional time billed at $100/hr)
Utilizes existing furnishings and accessories throughout the home – Redesigner will assist homeowner with moving and re-arranging small items and accessories
For large furniture moves, Redesigner will direct only - homeowner responsible for moving items, or BDID can arrange and bill for movers.
Redesigner to provide a summary of next steps for homeowner immediately following consultation
Designed for homes that do not need to purchase many new items, but could use assistance maximizing what is already in the home.
Full-Service Redesign Price
Ideal for the homeowner that wants a detailed vision, complete with images, plans, and to-do lists
Includes full home evaluation (approximately 2-3 hours) plus follow-up information including action plan, 2 idea boards, shopping guide, idea photos, and basic furniture arrangement plan (may be customized to better suit homeowner needs by request).
This package is intended for decorating and minor update recommendations only – not applicable for full design and renovation projects
1 hour colour selection, including painting plan outline with paint chips
RESIDENTIAL DESIGN/DECORATING SERVICES
Includes communication and scheduling of sub-contractors, assisted shopping, furniture selection and layout, project management, product sourcing and any other related services required. All design and decorating services begin with an initial consultation, billed for a minimum of 1 1/2 hours.

Provides a concept of the overall theme and style of a room through a visual pdf of inspiration images of furnishings, accessories, and other accents.
