Hello and welcome to Week 1 of the One Room Challenge!
If you are new to the Blog, my name is Brenda Danso, the designer behind BD Interior Design based in Toronto, Canada. I help homeowners debunk the myth that you need loads of money to have a well designed space. And this time I'm doing that through my participation in the One Room Challenge.
This is my first One Room Challenge (ORC) and I am happy to connect with other creatives as we all pick a room in our home to transform. If you are not familiar with the One Room Challenge, it is a biannual event where designers (re)design one room over a six week period and share weekly progress of our journey. And the icing on the cake; BETTER HOMES & GARDENS IS THE OFFICIAL MEDIA PARTNER OF THE ORC!
My plan is to transform this blank canvas (below) into the Ultimate Dream Girls Room. Pictured above is my Design Concept and how I want the room to feel; bright and Airy with a punch of colour. For colour, I am going with Pink because it is the new Neutral. Think all things pretty that bring joy. Like florals, macaroons and tea parties. Well maybe it's all the things that bring me joy and I'm assuming my girls (4 and 6) are like me because that's who I am transforming this room for.
-Finalize Paint Color
-Wallpaper Selection for accent wall
-DIY Floral hangings
These Pinterest images definitely inspired my design plan.
Show me the money! And there is the challenge, moving in to a new construction home just three months ago, let's face it we do not have much disposable income right now. However, I am up for the challenge- thank heavens for DIY's!
That's it for now.....
